14th Annual Vigil of Remembrance

Temple Beth David invites the community to its 14th Annual Yom HaShoah Vigil of Remembrance. Throughout the day, participants will read aloud the names of Holocaust martyrs, honoring the lives and futures that were lost.
The vigil will begin with words of remembrance from clergy and the lighting of six memorial candles. Members of the community are invited to take part by reading names, listening, reflecting, and adding names from their own personal remembrances.
This year’s program will also feature a special presentation by Oren B. Stier, PhD, Professor of Religious Studies and Director of the Holocaust and Genocide Studies Program at Florida International University. His talk, “Hollywood and the Holocaust,” will explore how film has portrayed and interpreted the Holocaust and what these representations reveal about how this history continues to be remembered and understood.
Friends from across the community will also join in reading the names of the Righteous Among the Nations.
All are welcome to come, participate, and remember.
