Finding Peace When Life Feels Overwhelming

Kevin Peck delivers a Sunday message to an audience at The Gathering Place Church in Palm Beach Gardens

This week at The Gathering Place, a church in Palm Beach Gardens, I had the chance to share a message about something we all need but often struggle to find—peace.

Let’s be real: life can feel like too much sometimes. Even as I prepared this message, I faced interruptions and stress—phone calls with family emergencies, unexpected challenges, and those moments that remind me I don’t have it all together.

Maybe you’re in that place too. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, worn out, or just plain tired.

Here’s what struck me: when Jesus appeared to His disciples after His resurrection, the first thing He said wasn’t, “Why did you doubt me?” or “Why did you run away?” He said, “Peace be with you.”

Not a casual greeting, but a life-changing promise. Because Jesus knows what fear feels like. He knows what it means to feel uncertain and anxious. And He meets us right in that space—offering peace we can’t manufacture on our own.

What Does This Peace Look Like?

It’s not just the absence of trouble. It’s the presence of God—right in the middle of our messy, complicated lives. It’s the quiet confidence that, no matter what’s going on, we’re held in hands that won’t let us go.

And let me tell you—this is more than a feel-good idea. It’s a way of life. It’s the truth that sustains me when my plans fall apart and my heart feels heavy. It’s the power of the Holy Spirit, breathing life into places I thought were done.

The Challenge

Here’s what I’m learning (and what I want to pass on to you):

  • Start where you are.
You don’t have to wait until you have it all figured out. God’s peace isn’t earned—it’s given.
  • Be honest about what you’re carrying.
Sometimes the first step to receiving peace is naming what’s causing the turmoil.
  • Remember you’re not alone.
At The Gathering Place, we’re a community of real people who know life isn’t always easy. We’re here to walk with you, to pray with you, and to remind you that you’re never alone in this journey.

  1. I love this message. Jesus is our source of life, refuge, and peace. Peace comes in the strangest places. Where there is chaos, Jesus can bring peace. I know it to be true in my own life. Thank you for the encouraging message filled with hope.
