From Chaos to Divine Purpose
I often wonder how our lives become so busy and fragmented, even though we have more resources and tools than ever before. Yet we still feel tired, anxious, and ask, “Why am I here? Does my life have purpose?” The good news lies in the very first pages of Scripture.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth… and there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. (Genesis 1:1–5)
Genesis begins not with order, but with chaos: a formless, empty world shrouded in darkness. Yet the Spirit of God hovers over the waters, ready to speak light into the void and bring purpose to every corner of creation.
Image-Bearers Called to Flourish
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26). In this simple declaration, you and I discover our unique worth: we are made in God’s image, entrusted to steward and fill the earth with life and beauty. You were not created to simply exist; you were created to participate in God’s good work.
Brokenness and the Promise of New Creation
This world was designed for harmony, but sin entered and fractured that original melody. Yet God did not abandon us. In Jesus—the new Adam—perfect obedience, healing, and restoration begin. The moment we trust Him, we enter into a new creation.
Discipleship: Learning Obedience Together
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:18–20)
Following Jesus is not merely an intellectual exercise; it is learning obedience. It means forgiving without reservation, loving our enemies, and choosing the higher road even when it’s hard. Baptism marks our new identity in Christ, and community shapes us as we worship, serve, repent, and grow together.
A Summer Invitation
This summer, join me as we walk through Genesis—through Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, Isaac, Rebecca, and Joseph—and discover how God calls ordinary people to trust Him in uncertainty. May the Spirit bring light to your darkness and clarity to your questions, as we learn to follow Jesus step by step, day by day, in obedience and love.
